saturday mornings ….
we like to make muffins & listen to great music & change sheets & stay in sweats & not go to school & wrestle on unmade beds.

this morning we ordered chady a christmas stocking & gave molly a bath & sent to boys off to get hair cuts.

we should go grocery shopping & clean the garage & probably weed the flower beds …. but we’ll see.

1. i’m not sure what i love more …. my red lips, how shapeless & thick she drew my legs or how disproportionate chad looks in my arms …. : )

3. 6 year old art …. rex said that i loved everything sailor & jack drew at that age too … so much so that i usually frame them – so i’m loving ben’s pictures right now : )

it’s not saturday morning anymore …. if you don’t factor in the time change it’s almost sunday morning.
rex is spending his extra hour tonight asleep on the couch.
i need to get ready for the morning, before we’re late!

first of all pomegranate seeds are amazing. they are my new favorite food & if i could live off of them i would.  where have i been all my life that i have never had them before ???

next, i’m waiting for my fingernails to dry.

the kids lunches are packed. molly went to bed at 6:45. i would have taken a nap today except the flies were so bad i didn’t.

chad at 9 months.
he weighs  …. um 16 something pounds. i really did take him in. he’s in the 3 percentile, which is cute to me : )
he has starting eating real food. really i have started feeding him real food. he slept all night last night – like he was celebrating being 9 months or something.
i celebrated, at least.
he’s a happy guy, he’s pretty into his mom, he likes the action of the house. if he survives his big little sister he’ll be way ahead in life – she like to help him …. do everything.

there’s old navy ads on photobucket & now i’ve just remembered i forgot to take advantage of the 30% sale that was only today & i was suppose to order jeans. shoot.

tonight was baseball & presidential debates & a candle burning on the table. my small handful of dark chocolates are gone. rex hung some pictures on the wall for me & he also loaded the dishwasher.

it rained. we wore long sleeves. we were late for school. regan broke ben’s lego ship.

this weekend we tried rearranging the living room. actually what that means is rex moved the piano to several different spots before i decided it should go back to where it was.

i’m funky that way in being all ‘hey let’s switch things up’ but then i kinda like things a certain way so it all went back : )

but while the living room was all upside down and inside out we came across these old pictures of us & our kids & little orange hats & pumpkins.

and chad doesn’t have any pumpkin hunting pictures (!!!) so we left the house all upside down & crazy and went pumpkin hunting ….

’cause when chady gets his baby book he’ll have pictures with us & orange hats & pumpkins : )

molly wore the little orange hat,  the same one she wore in the picture when see was almost nine months old. and she would have loaded every pumpkin into the wagon – she liked them all.

they really weren’t into grouping up for a picture … molly hadn’t found the perfect pumpkin yet.

so really at the end of the day all we did was move desk out of our room …. ’cause that was the whole point of my rearrange idea anyway  . . . & we bought a few pumpkins & made a few memories … for chady’s baby book, of course ; )

we’re on the road this morning. a last minute sunday road trip. chad’s little car seat toy giraffe is swinging. the kids are quiet actually. molly is yawning. regan is asking ‘how far we are going, mommy?’ and telling me chady is awake.

i ate the rest of the pumpkin pie for breakfast, he had a rare saturday morning bath.

then we washed mountains of dishes & killed more flies than should be allowed in a barn let alone a house!

and a baptism – it was beautiful. she cried & we clapped & cried a little too.

right now molly is the reporter & regan is who she’s interviewing. she’s just asked her ‘where did you come from?’ regs answered ‘from my mom & dad.’ rex is all yep! but molly was looking more for if she was from north dakota or ohio. next she asked what her middle name is – to which she replied reggy roo pop rodgers. again rex asked if we should tell her her middle name is actually rose & not roo pop.

we just passed a 57 bel air hard top, he called it pretty.

we’re passing an air force base & following an old dodge truck with a dog sitting by the man driving.
molly just said she has to go to the bathroom & i just gave her my phone with a game. and then right after that gave i rex’s to regan.

haven’t ever done that so deliberately before.
sailor likes the song on the radio.

the whole phone games are not going over so well …. according to some, others are ‘out of his control’

we just passed a fire truck on the side of the road ….. there was a swather in the corn field that looked like it had caught on fire. it was a great picture – tractors, farmer, half cut dried corn, with a fireman in all his gear walking back to the road.

the kids (the kids at that time were sailor, jack, ben & molly) & i were at the library one day & i saw this name embroidered on a diaper bag. i think i sent a text to amie & rex …. for sure rex, saying how darling it’d be with our last name and it’d be like his with three r’s and wasn’t it adorable??!!

i give it to him, he’s used to left field, out of the blue text’s from me that don’t relate to anything happening at the time ; )

he answered back with something along the lines of ‘babe, we don’t need a baby name – we aren’t having a baby’

minor detail. it was still a perfect name.
but he was right, we didn’t need one, we weren’t pregnant.

i know you might find this hard to believe but before chad came along, molly & regan’s age gap was the biggest we’d ever had : )
we were like a whole 2 months past the ‘normal’ of the other kids & thought yeah, we’ve got this!

the name on that diaper bag from the library stuck. she’s like her daddy in having initials all the same. she’s like sailor in having the only other name that has no family mention in it. she has quite the slew of nicknames. and obviously according to her – she’s rega-roo-pop-rodgers

this face cracks me up …. it’s very un-sailor-ish – not her normal smile or laugh or look or expression ??? : )

of all their names, i’m asked about sailor’s the most. where did you come up with that? how do you spell that?  i’ve never heard that before …. it’s a common word, it’s not a common name.

half the time she’ll correct the people who assume they heard her say taylor, half the time she won’t.

her name is really not as complicated as some think …. i heard it at a cousins baby shower years & years ago. i wasn’t married. i didn’t even know rex. it wasn’t even my cousin who mentioned it. it was some girl who was pregnant & was all into sharing names & if she had a girl she’d name her ……. and i never forgot it.

fast forward -
did rex like it ….. : )
we got married.
we had a baby.
she was a girl.

(and as for twinks …. its a little nickname that started when i went into say good morning to her when she was a baby in her crib still. i’d walk in & smile and pick her up, it was twinkle something … i don’t even remember : )  she also used to walk around on her tip toes & rex called her twinkle toes. over time it was just shortened to twinks. rex & i are the only ones who use the name …. none of the other kids even call her by it.)

she asked me what her name meant …. on the name plaque on the wall it gives ‘divinely guided’ as a definition. sailor pretty much means sailor. jane means God is gracious as well.

again, i’ve been completely fascinated with their answers. some have been absolutely hilarious to me, some have totally surprised me, some i could have answered on my own ….. some of them i’ve really wanted to explain or give background to, or justify or add my own thoughts with …. but that wouldn’t be fair reporting, would it : ) so here we go with sailor!

jack is the only name we had picked out a kid before he was born. i really don’t remember any other name being a possibility. it was always jack.

and again just jack, not jackson.
for his middle name rex called me early one morning after he’d left for work & i was still asleep … i answered barely awake & he said ‘hey how about this …… ‘

really? not ’cause i didn’t like it but because it wasn’t his name or his dads name, it was my dads name & we were going through some things then and it just surprised me.

but it went together, well.
and as you know by now the rodgers side has been used in kids middle names since : )

jack means God is gracious – another perfect fit, He’s been incredibly gracious.

i’m not sure i’ll ever fully concede to our pattern on kid naming being we’ve traded back & forth every other kid …. rex keeps a much better tab on those sort of things – or at least he kept track when he had the name ; ) molly was his name all along & he calls her names like molly dolly doodle all the day & doodle bug & bug & princess zebra foot. molly was a go from the ultrasound that said she was a she. her middle name had more options – molly ann (mine) molly louise (amie’s) molly marie (april’s) but none of those quite fit ….. ’til her grandpa’s name was thrown in as an idea.

4 & a half years later, she’s so much more than an idea …..

so i’ve been asked about our kids names more than once & i thought to answer that question i’d interview each kid along with it.

i’m going to go in the order i asked them. a few details first …. i asked each kid the same questions, in the same order. i asked them all individually, except regan heard 1/2 of sailor’s interview before her own. i tried to scribble down as quickly as i could exactly how they answered complete with ‘um’s’ & smiles.

ben was first.

his name …. i was driving home down our road late one night before he was born listening to dobson on the radio & there was a guy on named ben. i thought it’d make the cutest boy name on earth. ben, just ben.

i had to sell rex on just ben. offering up his middle name to go with it.

we aren’t super deep in the naming of our kids …. ben means son.
obviously, he fits his name perfectly : )

it seems to early to go to bed.

the moon has been crazy.crazy bright lately. i like bright moons.

did you know i had all afternoon to post & i just couldn’t. i folded laundry instead.

i’ve also brushed my teeth already. a useless piece of info unless you realize that means i’ve self imposed a ban on all things chocolate. chocolate, no matter how good it is does not taste good with toms toothpaste still lingering …..

i played a super hilarious joke on rex tonight : )
trust me, it was funny.

so i’m trying one more attempt at a post.

ordering food at panda express completely stresses me out. i never know which combinations to pick & if what i do choose will be enough for all of us. i honestly go off of the dollar amount. friday nights order only came to $24 something & i thought ‘ahh that’s not enough – add sides! add sides!!’

little reggy got sick yesterday. ‘my tummy not feel good, mommy’ she pitifully told me. we watched curious george on netflix after she’d thrown up everything in her sick tummy & then some.

every one else went to the dump.

she’s three now. last sunday was her birthday. 

the cutest part of her birthday was every time we told her happy birthday! she’d answer with happy birthday back, like we were saying merry christmas or hello : )

i love the way she talks. it really can’t be expressed on a keyboard. the pronunciation of her words especially. and how she usually starts & ends each sentence with the name of the person she’s talking to. our favorite thing right now is how she somehow adds a /ck/ sound  followed by /ee/ to the funkiest words like …. our very favorite is her version of horse.

since her last birthday …. she now wears panties & shares a bed with molly. molly graciously sleeps like a pencil right on the edge while regs sleeps in every possible position & somehow manages to cover the rest of their double bed. she loves to play baby&mommy with molly, or sailor, or even one of the boys. she likes ‘school’ & always asks what she’s suppose to do next. she will tell you her name is ‘reggy roo-pop rodgers’. her big sister skills are improving.

here she thinks she needs to keep chad in that exact spot on the grass ….

i think kids further down the line in families (notice i just couldn’t type big families …..) have this super mix of being a part of the group and yet being their own person.

i needed a picture fix the other night …. after they had all royally left for awana, so i sat down on the floor with chad & might of taken a couple of pictures.

they will be his ‘he’s 8 months old’ pictures.
does he sleep through the night? no. is he molly’s favorite doll to play with? yes. can he crawl? no. but brother moves. does he love to cuddle? yes. oh glorious yes. his top right tooth is in & now he does this funky thing with his lips to match up his top & bottom teeth … like that –
