we absolutely over slept this morning – i thought it was 7am but a closer look at the clock said it was really 8:13!

    what we got done:
    wash suburban
    iron clothes
    take shower
    shave legs
    feed kids
    comb hair
    start dishwasher
    remember sunday school lesson

    what we didn’t get done:
    make bed
    wash hair
    any type of clean up
    feed ourselves

we were however perfectly on time for church at 9:30 – all in all quite impressive : )

we took one set of grandparents to lunch today & now are swimming at the others.

we’ve watched tv specials of 9/11 events. we’ve answered constant questions from curious 8, 6 & 5 year olds about airplanes, twin towers, terrorist attacks, hijackers, the pentagon & president, fireman & hero’s.

where were you?  we’d been married barely 6 weeks … rex called me in the morning after he’d already left for work ….

yesterday started nice & lazy with rare games played on dad’s phone : )

    and family pictures …

then the marathon training schedule said saturday meant 4 miles … which we walked. it was hot. like 100 degrees hot … the kids made it for the first mile, regan came the 2nd & third till the stroller tire went flat, bucket made it the whole distance, though he swam part of it!

we forgot to get us – just picture rex in black sunglasses, me in aqua sunglasses, both with dusty tennis shoes but just me sweaty – rex never broke a sweat …. he claimed : )

today its 20 degrees cooler but they are in the pool just like yesterday.

excited over grammy’s school surprises …. you’ll see them tomorrow.

  • love those hand drawn family pictures! my Ava does that ALL the time. the teeth are just like your daughters too! they crack me up.
super cute picture of the kiddos on your header!
10 years ago today? newly married, working outside in my gardens and alone…. Tim called me to tell me what had happened and i was so wishing for someone to be with me. i remember we sat together that night watching images and just being overwhelmed…such a redefining of how life was viewed…..

  • Love you header pic…the pops of pink are just perfect!

I’m totally impressed if your training while pregnant…I can’t even get my un-pregnant self motivated to try it:)

    Have a great week~

  • your new header is just adorable. and i don’t know if i’ve told you this before or not, but i love how you capitalized the “o” in hOldfast. it is aesthetically pleasing , and reminiscent that what HE offers for us to hold onto is complete.

getting to church at all is impressive with kids. and 9:30 am? wow. the family sketches are sweet. and as far as where i was on 9-11 when it all happened…
running errands all over town with baby sarah and 4 year old ben. jared was in school. till i got home it was “over” but at that time we still didn’t know. i don’t think that i did much of anything the rest of that day. and i couldn’t wait till everyone came home. i just wanted to hug all of us at the same time.

  • wow you’re good to get all that done before church and be on time!
way to go on your training too!  Yeah, this heat just isn’t worth it to run in.  I always sweat buckets when I run or actually just walking in this heat will do that to me :)
10 years ago yesterday, I was supposed to be doing school but had fallen asleep on the couch.  My dad called and told us what happened (I had no idea what the WTC was or what had just happened until I saw the pictures), then we just sat around the radio and computer listening/seeing it all unfold.

  • I’m impressed too. You even shaved your legs! hahaha. That’s definitely a must do in this house. =)
The photos are so cute, and I too like your new header.

9/11. I was already married for a whopping almost 5 years. We had two kids at the time…they were 1 and 3.
Jeff was actually working in the city (Chicago) and called to tell me what happened. I turned on the news and watched all the stories. Chicago had some sort of threat, and they began to evacuate the city.  I was really nervous waiting for him to get home. i was so happy when he walked in the door.

We had just been to NY a few weeks prior to the attacks and had the towers in our movies and pictures. It was strange that they were gone.
    I can’t believe it’s been 10 years….so sad.
